Kellin Croshaw: A Soaring Achievement

Kellin Croshaw: A Soaring Achievement

On February 14, 2025, Kellin Croshaw reached a milestone that many aspiring aviators dream of—he officially became a private pilot. His journey to earning his wings was nothing short of extraordinary, marked by dedication, perseverance, and a relentless drive to succeed.

Unlike most students who follow a structured timeline, Kellin’s aviation journey took off at an accelerated pace. He completed nine weeks’ worth of coursework in just two, an impressive feat that allowed him to begin flight training earlier than usual. While most students in his program typically began flying in January, an exception was made this year, allowing students to start in December. But Kellin’s exceptional progress granted him an even greater opportunity—he began flight training on October 15, 2024.

His natural aptitude for flying became evident early on. With only eight hours of training, he accomplished one of the most significant milestones for any pilot: his first solo flight. On November 2, 2024, he took to the skies alone, demonstrating skill and confidence beyond his years. By mid-January 2025, he had met all FAA requirements to take his checkride, a testament to his hard work and commitment. However, regulations required that he be at least 17 years old to receive his certificate. As a result, he had to wait until February to officially complete the process.

When the long-awaited checkride was finally scheduled, nature presented one last hurdle—inclement weather forced a postponement of his flight test. But true to form, Kellin remained patient and prepared, ready to seize the next opportunity. On February 14, under clear skies, he took to the air one last time as a student pilot. After demonstrating his skills in both oral and practical examinations, he emerged victorious, earning his private pilot certificate with flying colors.

Now, with approximately three and a half months left in the school year, Kellin sets his sights on his next goal: earning his instrument rating. His aviation journey is just beginning, and with the determination and passion he has already displayed, the sky is truly the limit.
